Either you manage your money, or your money will manage you. We have partnered with The WealthCulture.com to offer easy and practical personal finance tips to The Village.
Welcome to Dollars and Cents, a segment from Real Talk with Jay.
In episode 2 we discussed the No Spend Tracker. This is a tool you can use to help manage your budget and personal finances. Track your progress. 30 Days no spending on nonessentials purchases. For example, gas is essential spending while a large fancy coffee is nonessential. Determine what is essential spending for you and what is not. Each successful no spend day you have, cross out corresponding number on the tracker. At the end of 30 days total the amount of money you have saved. Good Luck! You got this!!
We wanted to share an app that may save you a few dollars. Ms. D. talks about this app in episode 2 of Real Talk with Jay during the Dollars and Cents segment. Dollars and Cents is a segment sponsored by The Wealth Culture. Once you download the app to your phone or tablet, simply enter the name of one of your medications and your zip code. The app will then check multiple pharmacies in the area and find the cheapest price for the medication. Here is the part where the savings come in. Sometimes the app can find prices that are lower than your insurance copay. Which means you may be able to purchase the medication cheaper using this discount app than with using your insurance. In using the app we were surprised how much medication cost vary from pharmacy to pharmacy. You may want to consider having your doctor give you a paper prescription so you can shop around instead of having them send it to a pharmacy electronically. This is a great way to find a few extra dollars in savings to repurpose towards paying of debt, building your emergency fund, set aside money for an investment, or save up for that dream vacation. Hope this helps. We are all in this together!
